Total has reached an agreement with its Indian partner Adani Green Energy to expand their renewable energy portfolio to 2.3 GW from 2.1 GW and build new solar farms in India. India plans to more than double its renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by 2022, up from 88 GW currently, to reduce its dependence on coal and meet its Paris Agreement commitment of ensuring that 40% of its power generation comes from non-fossil energy by 2030.
