Total Drills Duster Offshore Lebanon

Total has drilled Lebanon’s first deepwater well but did not make a commercial discovery (IOD Feb.12’18). The Byblos 16-1 exploratory well was drilled to a depth of 4,076 meters in Block 4, 30 km from Beirut in water depths of 1,500 meters. The well was targeting the gas reservoir within the Tamar formation but was unsuccessful. Some traces of gas were observed but drilling proved uncommercial, although Total will further analyze the results.
