IEA: Vaccine Won’t Deliver Quick Demand Fix

The International Energy Agency has slashed its estimate of global oil demand for the fourth quarter of 2020 by 1.2 million barrels per day and says “a Covid-19 vaccine is unlikely to ride to the rescue of the global oil market for some time." The Paris-based IEA also lowered its demand estimate for the first quarter of 2021 by 700,000 b/d, citing the recent surge in coronavirus infections in Europe and the US.
