摘要

The US oil sector lauded the announcement late last week that the Trump administration reached a deal with Mexico to avert the 5% tariffs slated to take effect this week, but the industry remains uneasy that the issue could erupt again. For the oil sector, concerns range from the permanence of Trump’s decision not to impose the escalating tariffs to the possibility that political headwinds generated by the threats could endanger the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on trade. “There’s unquestionably a kind of lingering concern to not want to go through this again in the future,” Josh Zive, a senior principal at the Bracewell law firm, said Monday.
