US Crude Stocks Fall Sharply, Price Rises

Oil prices surged higher on Wednesday after official government data revealed a much larger than expected draw on crude inventories in the US. The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) weekly statistics on petroleum stocks in the US showed crude inventories fell a whopping 8.6 million barrels, an historic draw for this time of year, leaving nationwide stocks at 445.9 million bbl the week ended Feb. 22.
