Spain’s Repsol might expand its presence in Russia after acquiring new license areas in partnership with Russia’s third-largest crude oil producer, Gazprom Neft. Gazprom Neft is currently discussing the transfer of its six exploration licenses in West Siberia to a joint venture with Spanish firm Repsol, sources told Energy Intelligence. The already-existing partnership includes the Eurotek-Yugra production unit, in which Gazprom Neft bought a 25.02% stake from Repsol, and the recently established ASB Geo joint venture (IOD Jan.2’19).
