Gazprom, E.On Ruhrgas Compromise on Gas Payments

Gazprom and one of its major European customers and partners, Germany’s E.On Ruhrgas, have reportedly managed to come to a compromise over the terms of payment for less-than contracted Russian natural gas supplies in 2009 caused by weak demand. The German firm is expected to pay $140 million to Gazprom in compensation for importing less natural gas than stipulated in its long-term take-or-pay contract last year, Russian business daily Kommersant reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.
