Graphical abstractA newone-potsynthetic procedure to obtain water-soluble Re and Tc complexes, starting from the permetallated species [MO4]?(M=Re, Tc), is proposed. Under mild aqueous conditions, paramagnetic complexes containing PTA (1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) were obtained: in the presence of the reducing agent SnCl2, [MCl3(PTA)3]Cl was isolated in good yield, while, in the absence of SnCl2, an unexpected species containing methylated PTA, [MCl4(PTA-Me)2]Cl, was produced. A preliminary study of the reactivity of these products withN,N-diethyldithiocarbamate was also carried out.Display OmittedHighlights?New water-soluble Re and Tc paramagnetic complexes containing the PTA phosphine were isolated.?The new complexes were prepared directly from their permetallated species under mild conditions.
