1-anilinonaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid (abbr. 1,8-ANS) and surfactant 1-octane sulfonic acid sodium (abbr. OS), were co-intercalated into the layered europium hydroxide (abbr. LEuH) by ion exchange reaction. The XRD results display that the 1,8-ANS and OS are dispersed uniformly in the LEuH layers, and different molar ratios of OS and 1,8-ANS generated different arrangement. The composites with low content of OS may correspond to a monolayered arrangement, while composites with high content of OS may correspond to a bilayered arrangement. The composites show aggregates composed of elongated hexahedron platelets. The thermal stability of the organic molecule was enhanced after intercalation. The combination of the 1,8-ANS anions with the positively-charged LEuH layers generated hybrid materials exhibiting novel luminescence properties, blue and cyan emission composites can be obtained. This work benefits the improvement of stability and fluorescence property of organic dyes and offers a beneficial approach to fabricate organic-inorganic hybrid materials with controllable structures and luminescence properties.
