US ACN market weighed by softer demand for exports amid coronavirus concerns

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US acrylonitrile export market is facing headwinds from softer demand from Asia in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, while domestic demand is holding steady. The US exports anywhere from 20% to 30% of domestic supply, and in 2019, almost half of all exports went to South Korea and Taiwan. Asian values have fallen by almost 10% from the beginning of the year, with most of the decrease coming in February as the virus, which originated in China, has spread to other regions.
