Rosneft hopes to boost its share of a global crude market that will be increasingly tight in the years ahead, according to chief executive Igor Sechin. Russia’s leading oil producer is banking on significant output growth at its own fields. The company’s “competitive” new upstream projects leave it well-placed to help meet a forecast 700mn-750mn t/yr (14mn-15mn b/d) global crude supply deficit by 2025, Sechin told Rosneft’s recent annual general meeting (AGM). His remarks were made just before Opec and its Russia-led non-Opec partners agreed to ease output restraint at a meeting in Vienna on 22 June (see p1).
