The Ukrainian government approved a draft resolution on 1 February for the separation - or unbundling - of the country's gas transmission system operator (TSO), Ukrtransgaz, from state-owned Naftogaz. All Ukrtransgaz assets must be registered as the property of a new entity - Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine (MGU) - within 10 days of the Stockholm arbitration court's final ruling on Naftogaz's transit contract with Gazprom. A decision is expected at the end of February. Separately, Ukraine's energy ministry has extended its search for international partners for MGU until 1 March. It is seeking at least one overseas operator, although it has yet to decide on the form of the partnership. The ministry is consulting with foreign TSOs on possible models.
