Rail shipments of products for export from Russia fell by 1.7pc on the month on a daily average basis to 8.51mn t in March. But rail exports were steady on the year at 25.53mn t in the frst quarter, according to freight forwarding companies. Supplies of gasoil and diesel by rail were nearly 13pc higher than in February at almost 2mn t last month. The increase was supported by strong demand for Russian product in Europe as a result of reduced refnery output in the region — because of industrial action in France and widespread, scheduled maintenance. Exports of Russian gasoil and diesel by rail were more than 8pc higher on the year in the frst three months of 2020 (see table).
