Pakistani cement firm connects coal plant

Pakistani cement company Maple Leaf Cement has commissioned a coal-fired power plant, which will add around 164,300 t/yr to the firm's imported coal demand. Maple Leaf's 40MW coal plant has "started its commercial production", the firm announced today. The coal plant will firstly be used to meet the firm's own power requirements, while any excess power will be sold to the state-owned Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda). The plant will consume around 450 t/d of coal.
