Indonesia’s Adaro Energy lifts output in 2018

Indonesian coal producer Adaro Energy produced 54.04mn t in 2018, up by 4pc on the previous year, and hit its targets after a significant increase in production in the fourth quarter. The company’s output was in the lower range of its target of 54mn-56mn t for the year and exceeded 2017 production of 51.8mn t. Adaro was able to reach its target because fourthquarter production rose to 15.06mn t, up by 21pc against 12.43mn t in the final quarter of 2017. The company attributed the increase to comparatively better weather conditions in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared with the previous year. Its fourth-quarter 2017 operations were hampered by severe rains, with record-setting average rain hours and rainfall volume, Adaro said. While fourth-quarter 2018 was also a wet season for the company, it was milder compared with the previous year.
