For preventing the hydrogen embrittlement of the steel, it is necessary to well-understand not only the mechanism but also the kinetics of hydrogen absorption on the steel surface and the following hydrogen permeation into the steel substrate. In order to understand the hydrogen permeation, a Devanathan-Stachurski (DS) double electrochemical cell [1,2] has frequently been used to measure the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in the steel and the efficiency of hydrogen permeation from the current transients of entry and exit cell [3].
