摘要

Turbulent flow in the continuous casting mold is important to the steel quality, because flow transientsinfluence transport of inclusion particles and bubbles carried by the jets into the liquid pool and might be thecause for intermittent and asymmetrical defects observed in slabs. The asymmetrically distribution ofdefects in the slab has been found in recent ultrasonic flaw detection flaw. However, the symmetricaldistribution detected in flow field of the mold of continuous casting calculated by RANS is failed to explainthis phenomenon. This work calculates the transient turbulent flow in the thin slab continuous casting moldusing the large eddy simulations (LES).
