摘要

Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) has been widely used in the industry as a rapid and high quality welding method. However, there are several different cracking behaviors during GMAW with various welding conditions. Since the GMAW is a short time process with high temperature and severe noise, it is difficult to examine the cracking during the process by existing methods. In our research, acoustic emission (AE) events were recorded from the GMAW process. Our objective is to examine the location, occurring time and of AE events. Also FEM is introduced to simulate the acoustic wave propagation in the material to understand the mechanisms of cracking.
