摘要

Grain refinement is an effective method for improving the mechanical property of the materials. The ultrafinegrained (UFG) materials have shown increased strength and hardness. One of the promising ways to produce UFGmaterials with bulky shape is the severe plastic deformation (SPD) process. The regulated mechanical milling(MM) for austenitic stainless steel powders can produce the bimodal powder with severe deformed area (Shell)near the surface and conventional deformed area (Core) at inner part. The compact sintered by hot isostatic pressing(HIP) has the harmonic structure as shown in Fig.1. The harmonic structure compact demonstrates high strengthand sufficient ductility(1). Tensile deformation and fracture behavior of the harmonic structured compacts ofSUS316L and SUS304L stainless steels is discussed in detail.
