摘要

A compact which is furnace cooled at 1573 K had a brittle surface layer with high chromium, high nitrogen contents, but the surface layer disappears by holding at 1473 K for short time in the middle of cooling from 1573 K. The nitrogen content becomes higher with increasing holding time at 1473 K and the microstructure is found to be austenite in the holding times of 5 and 10 h. In the tensile tests, the solution treated compact shows a good combination of tensile strength and elongation better than SUS304 and SUS316 steels.
