Study and Application of Sealing Material for Coke Oven Chamber

Some coke ovens have been in operation for over 19 years in Baosteel, cracks and leaks developed in the walls and roofs of coke oven. The cracks are harmful in that they permit smoke to emit from ovens. In order to obtain stable coke oven operation over a long term, many kinds of repair techniques such as hot spray, gunning, brick exchange and so on have been used. But there is no effective way to cope with fine cracks of coke oven chamber. A newly sealing material is developed to meet coke oven's demands. The study results and application of the sealing material are described in this paper.
