In November 2001, worldwide primary aluminum production, at 56,200 metric tons per day, was up 0.9 percent from the month-earlier level and was 3.6 percent behind the year-earlier figure. Through November, the 2001 dally average, at 56,300 metric tons, was 2.8 percent lower than the level the previous year. In November 2001, worldwide aluminum inventories declined 2.1 percent when compared with the previous month, to 2.99 million metric tons. In comparison to the 2000 period, November's inventories were off 2.3 percent.
