UAE’s Arabian Gulf Steel Industries plans to enter merchant billet market despite scrap-based production

Despite low competiveness of scrap-based production in the current market conditions, Jordan’s Taybah Steel Group isplanning to start semis production at its new plant in the UAE – Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI). With the launchof the facility the company intends to enter the regional merchant billet market, but such a strategy is considered bymarket participants as quite challenging.
