DRI production gains traction in USA

US steel producers are increasingly often pointing out at the need of raising production of DRI due to a number of factors. One of the major reasons for that is a considerable drop in supply to US market after the leading supplier – Venezuela – left the global market for an indefinite term. According to annual report of the major producer of DRI modules Midrex, in 2013 global DRI production increased 3% and will continue growing this year. If new modules are commissioned, the yearly output will be increasing permanently and “will reach 200 million t by 2030”.
