摘要

More than 42 million individuals in the United States are estimated to be current smokers, and smoking remains highly prevalent and the leading cause of preventable deaths globally. Tobacco smoking rates among women vary globally but are estimated to be approximately 15% to 16% in the United States. Despite the well-publicized health effects of smoking during pregnancy on both the mother and the fetus, almost 11% of US women reported smoking through the final trimester of pregnancy, and of those who quit smoking during pregnancy, approximately 44% relapsed within 6 months of delivery of their infant.
