Industry Moving at Steady Pace,Expansion in Styrenics

Malaysia's economy is moving steadily upward.Its year-on-year GDP growth rate in real terms was 5.9% in 2006.The figure was 5.5% in Q1 2007 and climbed to 5.7% in Q2 on strong capital investment and consumer spending.According to the Central Bank of Malaysia,the country experienced a real GDP growth rate in 2007 of 6.3%,exceeding the government's target figure.The annualized growth rate in Q4 that year showed a sharp rise to 7.3%,the first in three years since Q2 2004,resulting from double-digit expansion in the service sector including retail sales,money and financing,securities and real estate.
