Pemex to reduce 2015 capex on oil price plunge.

The Mexican state energy firm announced that its plans to reduce its 2015 capex by $4.0B from a previous figure of $27.3B due to the recent plunge in crude prices coupled with increased competition to secure market share for its exports. Commenting on the capex cut Arturo Henriquez, the head of Pemex's centralized procurement team, said "Most of the cuts will be from exploration and production, because that's the majority of the budget." Henriquez added that the reduction in capex will most likely result in Pemex falling short of its stated production goal for the year of 2.4MM b/d. "It's going to be difficult for 100% of the budget cuts not to affect production."
