China's State Council announced on April 28 that it would accelerate the timetable for implementing the National Phase 5 gasoline as gasoil specifications by a full year, with the new spec now to be mandatory nationwide from Jan. 1, 2017. The Council also said that 11 provinces in eastern China would be required to meet the specification ahead of time, by Jan. 1 2016, running on an accelerated schedule that previously only Beijing/Tianjin/Hcbei Province and certain cities in the Yangzi and Pearl River Deltas had previously been expected to follow.
