When nickel price has fallen to a low level, production of nickel-based stainless steel has regained its share. According to a survey by a major nickel producer ( Eramet ), the quantity of nickel-based stainless steel produced in the world in the calender year ( January - December ) of 2009 had shared 74.9% of the whole production on crude stainless steel base. For a reference, the movements of share in production of nickel-based stainless steel in recent years were <> in 2008 : 72.3% and <> in 2007 : 71.0%.
