A feeling of the tightened supply on actual cargoes of nickel-based stainless steel scrap is becoming critical day by day and the price of Sabot ( 18-8 series solid ) offered by shippers of the USA in the beginning of this week has risen to 2,450 US dollars per ton FOB for shipments from ports in the US West Coast. The US production of stainless steel is recovering rapidly and 200,000 tons were produced in January of 2010, having increased by 2 times compared with that in the same month of 2009. In order to cope with this sudden and considerable recovery in production of stainless steel, price of stainless steel scrap to be purchased by stainless steel mills in Pittsburgh area of the USA has risen to 2,500 US dollars per long ton from the beginning of March in comparison with that ( 1,900 US dollars ) in the previous month of February.
