ANTIBIOTIC PRESCRIPTIONS FALL AFTER 2012 PEAK

The number of antibiotic prescriptions by GPs in England has fallen by 5.6% since 2012 following national efforts to slow the spread of bacterial resistance. Prescribing peaked at almost 0.68 items per head of population in the year to July 2012, a total of 37.9 million prescriptions, but fell to under 0.64 per head by 2015.
