IT IS not often that we see a pharmacist portrayed in a medical drama, despite the key role pharmacists all play in the healthcare system. In fact, as we found out during a media networking event that the Royal Pharmaceutical Society held last year, many of those who attended were unaware of how wide-ranging the role of a pharmacist is. However, as you will see this month when the BBC's Holby City introduces a consultant pharmacist as a central character, the media are beginning to portray pharmacists as full members of the multidisciplinary team.
