Welsh Bill seeks to extend budgets

LEGISLATION that will change the duration of Welsh local health board budgets from one year to three years has been introduced to the National Assembly for Wales. It is thought that without the need to balance their books every year, health boards will be encouraged to make longer-term investments. If passed, the NHS Finance (Wales) Bill will become law in time for the start of the 2014-15 financial year.
