SHARING medicines information between hospital and community pharmacies has improved patient safety, according to a small study conducted in NHS Forth Valley. The pilot's success means that the concept will now be tested by a larger-scale project in Scotland. "The pilot project provided the opportunity for different areas of the pharmacy profession to work together and communicate information in a secure manner," Michael Cohen, community pharmacy adviser, NHS Forth Valley, told The Journal. "The positive results indicate it has the potential to improve patient safety. Now that concept needs further testing."
