Pharmacists and patients both benefit

I am not sure how to take the article about community pharmacists' continuing professional development (PJ, 3 November 2012, p489). Is it condescending, insulting or just naive? The history of CPD goes back to a time, not so many years ago, when some practitioners thought that, once they had reached a degree of competence in their subject, further learning was unnecessary. The authors do not define what they consider to be satisfactory CPD, but the tone of the article seemed to be that the information sources listed were not suitable or sufficient for supporting the CPD requirements of community pharmacists and that perhaps analysis of the latest research was missing.
