Shameful treatment of whistle-blowers

I read with disbelief your article on whistle-blowing (PJ, 6/13 August 2011, p164), which made it sound as if the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 had been a success.A recent special report by Private Eye (June/July 2011) by Phil Hammond and Andrew Bousfield entitled "Shoot the messenger" highlighted that this is anything but the case and that the NHS and the Government has a shameful record in its treatment of whisde-blowers.
