Mothers of children in the US were interviewed during pregnancy, one month after the child's birth and when the child was six years of age about health, medicine use and lifestyle issues. One third of the children had been exposed to antibiotics by six months of age. The adjusted odds ratio for asthma associated with antibiotic exposure was 1.52 (95 per cent confidence interval 1.07-2.16).
