Slow take off for care record in high street but hospitals off to a flying start

SINCE the summary care record (SCR) programme was announced in 2010 there have been mixed reviews for the usefulness of the records, and reports of slow starts in community pharmacy pilots (PJ, 9 July 2011, p42). A Government report published in August 2011 (PJ, 6/13 August 2011,p148) suggested that ministers consider abandoning the "poorly managed" initiative claiming that the Department of Health was unable to demonstrate any benefits of the programme.
