Urgent changes called for in the regulation of UK health research

Urgent changes to the way health research is regulated and governed in the UK have been recommended by the Academy of Medical Sciences. A new independent health research agency should be established as soon as possible to bring together existing approval processes for health research, thereby increasing the speed at which innovations become available to patients, it says.
