Reconfiguration faced by 20 struggling hospitals

MERGERS or reconfigurations are being faced by 20 of England's hospital trusts after they revealed that they will never achieve foundation status in their present form, chairman of the House of Commons public accounts committee Margaret Hodge warned last week. The Labour MP said the 10 of the threatened NHS trusts are in London, which is "in a particularly shocking state" with long-standing problems that nobody has got a grip on.
