GP warning over devolvement of global sum

Current funding arrangements for community pharmacy contractors could be altered once the pharmacy global sum is devolved to primary care trusts in April 2010, a group of dispensing doctors has warned. The warning came during the 2010 Sigma Pharmaceuticals conference, held this week in Shanghai, China. Reassurance for pharmacists came from Mike Dent, head of finance at the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, who said that PCTs would not be able to change practice payments and dispensing fees locally after the global sum has been devolved.
