Only a quarter of community pharmacists who have qualified as pre-scribers in England are putting their new skills to use in the workplace, according to results from a survey of pharmacist prescribers published last week. . A higher proportion of pharmacist prescribers who work in GP practices are using their new qualification, with 60 per cent actively prescribing, the survey of 294 pharmacists carried out by the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education showed. The survey, which aimed to discover what the post-qualification educational needs are of this group of pharmacists, revealed that 48 per cent of the pharmacists who responded to the survey are prescribing in practice.
