Brian Curwain (PJ, 14 November 2009, p532) comments that a group of electees committed to saving pharmacist supervision of dispensing is the last thing the professional body needs. I contend it is exactly what the profession needs and, indeed, that it is in our patients' interest.I commend Marion Walker's action in resigning her post with the Advisory Council oh the Misuse of Drugs on principle (PJ, 7 November 2009, p497). It is people of strong conviction that we need at the leadership of the professional body.We need members with a conscience who are willing to stand up and object when necessary (in contrast to the "yes men" who seem to have pervaded our "representative" body in past years).
