Patients with cardioembolic stroke can safely be treated with warfarin shortly after stroke,new research shows.However,bridging anticoagulation with a full dose of enoxaparin or heparin may carry an unacceptably high risk of intracranial and systemic bleeding.US researchers analysed data for 204 patients admitted to hospital with cardioembolic stroke who had not been treated with tissue plasminogen activator.
