The prospectus for the new professional body (PJ, 29 November 2008, p618) is, in many ways, an admirable document but it contains a fatal flaw that imperils the whole project. It is proposed that the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society shall no longer be directly elected by the members but, instead, an assembly will be nominated by the national boards.
