Growers Try 'Green Cotton'

Due to indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers many farmers are experiencing substantial increases in salinity of the soil. The increase in the alkalinity is attributed to heavy accumulation of sodium and potassium bicarbonates from urea-fertilizers, which over the years form several layers of deposits. Also, non-soluble phosphorous gets bound to the soil, thus the fertilized soils slowly get loaded with these heavy deposits.
