Supply of stoma and incontinence appliances is the subject of a consultation launched by the Department of Health last week.The DoH has put forward changes to the listing structure of stoma and incontinence appliances and catheters in the Drug Tariff to allow easier comparison of prices.It also proposes creating two levels of service for pharmacies,dispensing doctors and appliance contractors."Essential services"would have to be provided by all contractors,while contractors could choose whether to provide"additional services"or not.Remuneration for these services will be the subject of another consultation later.
