FIBER CONTENT IN COTTON YARN AND FABRIC

Due mainly to reduced price competitiveness, a slowdown in economic activity in several advanced economies and a recession in the euro area, the demand for cotton textiles declined from 23.9 million tons in 2011 to 23.5 million tons in 2012. Cotton demand in 2012 was still 3.1 million tons below its level in 2007, before the Great Recession. Demanddestruction for cotton goods as of 2012 accounted for 12% of cotton consumption in 2007.
