Maternal underweight and child growth and development

摘要

In an analysis of data pooled across 27 countries from sub-Saharan Africa, Jenny Cresswell and colleagues (Oct13, p 1325) report that maternal obesity is associated with an increased risk of neonatal mortality, especially in the first 2 days after birth. We are puzzled that Cresswell and colleagues did not find an association between maternal underweight and neonatal mortality.
