The Arab Spring brought with it some horrendous violations of human rights. Among them, the use of the medical system to crack down on dissent received much attention, particularly in Syria and Bahrain. But a stone's throw away in Iran, human rights violations have been comparatively ignored.This neglect is not so much due to international preoccupation with Iran's nuclear enrichment programme, but is perhaps more indicative of the regime's effectiveness in silencing its most vocal opponents.
